Surgical, medical instruments export surge 18.53 percent
ISLAMABAD: The export of surgical goods and medical instruments during the first month of current financial year registered an increase of 18.53 percent as compared to the same period last year.
Surgical goods and medical instruments worth US$ 23.7 million were exported during the month of July 2011 as compared to US$ 20 million in the month of July 2010.
According to the data of Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS), the surgical and medical instruments export was recorded at US$ 24.5 million during the month of June 2011.
Meanwhile, the export of cutlery increased by 14.53 percent as cutlery goods worth US$ 7.2 million were exported during the month of July 2011 as compared to the export of US$ 6.3 million during same period of last year,the data reveled.
The export of electric fans increased by 50.62 percent as about 246 thousand units costing US$ 5.2 million were exported during the first month of current financial year as against to 161 units worth US$ 3.4 million during the same month of last year.
Gems and jewllery export during the month of July 2011 also increased by 6.63 percent and 213.46 percent as gems worth US$ 0.20 million and Jewllery costing US$ 81.36 million were exported.
