ISLAMABAD: The exports of fish and fish preparations witnessed increase of 15.25 percent during the first eleven months of the fiscal year 2013-14 compared to the corresponding period of last year.
The exports of fish and fish preparations during July-May (2013-14) were recorded at $335.732 million against the exports of $291.301 million in July-May 2012-13, according to the data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
Meanwhile, on year-on-year basis, the seafood exports from the country increased by 18.24 percent by going up from $35.520 million last year to $42 million in 2013-14.
On month-on-month basis, the exports of seafood increased by 7.64 percent in May 2014 compared to the exports of $39.018 million during the April 2014, the data revealed.
It is pertinent to mention here that the overall food exports from the country witnessed negative growth of 1.41 percent during the first eleven months of the fiscal year 2013-14 compared to the corresponding period of last year.
The over all food exports from the country during July-May (2013-14) were recorded at $4.295 billion compared to the exports of $4.357 billion in July-May (2012-13).
