In an exclusive interview Shaban Khalid expressed his satisfaction over the deliberations made by the government and said that this is the first time that all the stake holders including Chambers, industry representatives and trade associations have been consulted prior to budget preparation and their genuine concerns have been taken care of in the budget document, well in advance.

Shaban Khalid said that economic policies of the current government are good that will yield positive result in long term.

He urged that the government should broaden the number of tax payers' list instead of squeezing the same tax payers.

He hailed the announcement of Finance Minister, Ishaq Dar in which he predicted an increase of foreign reserve to the tune of 15 billion dollars by July this year.

Shaban said that it was a positive development as Pakistan's foreign reserves remained low during the last few years however, now an increase in the reserves has been witnessed.

He said that government's measures for the promotion of 3G and 4G technologies are really appreciable that will generate considerable employment opportunities in the country.

ICCI president observed that in the budget government has included special schemes for the youth and to help the poor . He said that we have proposed measures to promote a culture of filing tax returns in the country to bring into net rich people who are not paying their due taxes. He added that PML-N led government has also tried to remove the distortions and exemptions under the SROs regime and provided a level playing field to the industry.

He further, mentioned about the special incentives that have been given to the exporters, agriculture sector, textile and IT industry to harness the full potential of the Country. The government's policies will ensure growth in agriculture and value added exports, he added.

"If the government will continue to squeeze the already existing tax base then those who pay taxes will get discouraged and will try to evade tax payment," Shaban said .

Shaban Khalid said, the government should broaden the number of tax payers' list instead of squeezing the same tax payers. He said the government under leadership of Prime Minister, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has put the country on road to progress and prosperity.
