imageISLAMABAD: Exports of sports goods increased by 7.80 percent during the first month of the current fiscal year (2013-14) as against the exports of corresponding month of last year.

The overall exports of sports goods during July 2013 were recorded at $28.067 million against the exports of $26.036 million during July 2012, according to data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

On month-on-month basis, the exports of sports goods from the country, however decreased by 7.59 percent in July 2013 when compared to the exports of $30.372 million in June 2013.

Among the sports products, the trade of footballs increased by 3.57 percent by going up from the exports of $11.580 million in July 2012 to $11.993 million in July 2013.

However, on month-on-month basis, the exports of footballs decreased by 9.75 percent in July 2013 when compared to the exports of $11.580 million recorded in July 2012, the data revealed.

The exports of gloves surged by 58.05 percent to $12.461 million in July 2013 when compared to the exports of $7.884 million in July 2012.

On month-on-month basis, the exports in July 2013 witnessed nominal increase of 0.03 percent when compared to the exports of $12.457 recorded during June 2013, the data revealed.

The exports of all other sports good increased by 17.42 percent to $44.041 million in July 2013 when compared to the exports of $37.507 in July 2012.

However, the exports of other sports goods decreased by 13.05 percent in July 2013 when compared to the exports of $50.649 million in June 2013, according to the PBS data.

The exports from the country increased by 2.65 percent during July 2013 against the exports July 2012.

Exports during July 2013 were recorded at $2.095 billion against the exports of $2.041 billion during July 2012.

On the other hand, imports into the country increased from $3.662 billion during July 2012 to $3.814 billion during July 2013, showing increase of 4.16 percent.

Based on the figures, the trade deficit during the first month of the current fiscal year was recorded at 1.719 billion during July 2013, showing an increase of 6.07 over the deficit of $1.621 billion recorded during the same month of the last year.
