Pakistan most viable economic corridor of South Asia: Pak Envoy

imageISLAMABAD: Pakistan is the most viable economic, commercial and energy corridor in South Asia, apart from being at the heart of security and political pursuits in the region.

This was stated by the ambassador of Pakistan to France, Ghalib Iqbal in Paris while speaking at a seminar organized jointly by the Embassy of Pakistan in Paris and French organization CHEMI.

According to a message received here from Paris today, the ambassador impressed that Pakistan is fully conscious of its role to ensure International Peace and security given the unique security challenges in the region.

Mentioning Afghanistan, the ambassador said that Pakistan supports an Afghan owned and Afghan led process to achieve peace and stability.

The seminar was organized to brief young French officers about Pakistan's role in International war on terror, its responses, issues, challenges and the way out.

Speaking to the participants, the Ambassador called for International Community's long term and vital political and economic support for ensuring stability in the region, which in many ways is linked to global peace and stability. Talking about the role of other countries of the region, the Ambassador emphasized upon regional consensus for the success of Afghan Peace process and pooling of resources for economic development.

He briefed the participants about the state of Pakistan's society, governance and economy.

He particularly mentioned the role of Pakistani women in all fields of National life, transition towards moderation, strengthening of democratic institutions, defeat and rejection by the majority of extremism and hatred and a free and vibrant media.

The others who spoke on the occasion, included Monsieur Jean- Martin, Director CHEMI, Monsieur Jean-Eric LACOUR, Controller General of French Police, Captain Masood Khursheed, Army and Naval Attach‚ and Monsieur Gilles-Henry Garault, delegate on International and European Affairs of French Ministry of Interior.
