CM seeks investment in education sector

zz1PESHAWAR: The Chief Minister Khyber Pakthunkhwa, Ameer Haider Khan Hoti Sunday sought more investment in education sector for progress and development of nation.

 

The Chief Minister said while addressing a function on the 5th Foundation Day of Abdul Wali Khan University (AWKU) in Mardan and launching of Naway Sehr Laptop scheme in Mardan.

 

For a brighter future of people of Khyber Pakthunkhwa, he said the Government has allocated 4 percent of the total GDP for education that was a big achievement besides establishment of eight universities in the province.

 

He said establishment of universities in KP by the Government would ensure peace, tolerance and prosperity in Khyber Pakthunkhwa.

 

Vice Chancellors of different public sector universities besides MNA Himayatullah Mayar and MPA Ghani Dad Khan were present on the occasion. He congratulated the recipients of the laptops that were possible due to their hard work and excel in the study.

 

The Chief Minister said that Abdul Wali Khan University in four years attained a reputable status among the universities of Pakistan as well as in the world universities.

 

He said that promotion of computer education is the need of the hour and government took good steps by introducing laptop scheme to encourage young lot, adding merit is the hallmark of the scheme. He said that more than 935 students of Mardan would be facilitated with this scheme.

 

Haider Hoti said AWKU campuses have been established in Nowshera, Dir, Buner and Chitral to quench the education thrust of the students of these areas at their doorstep.

 

He said that Bacha Khan University and University of Swabi was possible due to the achievements of AWKU. He underlined the need to strengthen these two universities financially and administratively and the role played by AWKU would be highly commendable.
