economyaISLAMABAD: National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) on Sunday claimed that it has disbursed Rs9.041 billion to more than 0.448 million flood-hit house holds in second phase of Watan Cards programme.

Of the total disbursement in second phase, the Authority issued 1,58,881 Watan Cards in Punjab with cash disbursement of Rs2.771 billion, 44,624 cards in Sindh with cash disbursement of Rs472 million, in Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa total processed cards so far are 2,37,799 and disbursement is Rs5.68 billion while the number of issuance of cards stood at 3,208 in Azad Kashmir and cash disbursement is Rs56 million.

According to data, in Gilgit-Baltistan more than 3,206 cards were issued as three sites were established in Gilgit, Hunza and Skardu and cash disbursement is so far Rs 64 million.

The second phase of the programme was launched by Prime Minister, Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani few months back.

The second phase is regarded as Citizen's Damage Compensation Programme (CDCP) to ensure grants to around 1.1 million flood victims through Watan Cards.

In the second phase, Rs40,000 (in two installments) has to be provided to each of the households identified by the provinces with joint collaboration of National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), Cabinet Division (Emergency Relief Cell) and Provincial Disaster Management Authorities.

Five NADRA's sites were set up in Hattian, Haveli, Mirpur, Neelum and Rawalakot-I while another CDCP site was launched in District Malakand (KP) on Tuesday.
