imagePESHAWAR: The Home and Tribal Affairs Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa utilized only Rs 960.95 million out of the total allocated budget of Rs 6.37 billion in the outgoing fiscal of 2015-16 which comes to below 20 percent of utilization.

Official document stated that not a single penny was released for 82 construction projects in the Home Department during the current fiscal and the same confined just to paper work. While 24 projects remained uncompleted despite initiation of work.

To make Peshawar secure under Safe City Project, a sum of Rs 250 million were allocated in budget 2015-16 and despite release of Rs 100.61 million but not a single penny was utilized in this project.

Likewise, an amount of 100 million rupees was allocated for Peshawar Prison and surprisingly nothing was release for this project of prime importance.

To boost security at province's seven high-risk jails, rupees 50 million were allocated and though an amount of 10.25 million rupees were released however nothing was spent on construction of security posts in jails.

The official document said the Home and Tribal Affairs Department failed to utilize allocated budget of 2015-16. Similarly, European Union funded Access to Justice Program for which rupees 387.6 million were allocated could not be initiated as not a single penny was released for this program in 2015-16 and similarly the project remained to paper work.

No payment was released for the construction of building of schools of investigation and intelligence despite allocation of rupees 10 million.

Moreover, the project of improving facilities for the women and juvenile sections in the prisons in the province's jails also did not receive a single penny despite allocation of rupees 30 million.

The official document further stated that construction work on the projects related to maintenance of law and order and peace could be undertaken through allocation of rupees 1.27 billion with the financial assistance of DFID.

The projects of provision of justice to people, peace programs and countering terrorism also remained lingered on despite allocation of Rs 251.96 million that also contained foreign aid component.
