KARACHI: Keeping in view genuine issues of National Bank of Pakistan (NBP), the Chairperson, National Assembly's (NA) Standing Committee on Finance, Revenue, Economic Affairs, Statistics and Privatization, Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh has advised the NBP to improve its performance for boosting profitability.
"The committee has asked the NBP to improve its performance for profitability as private banks are earning two-fold more profit if compared to it" said the Chairman.
He said it while talking to official media persons after presiding over a meeting of NA's Standing Committee, at NBP Head Office, on Wednesday.
He said that NBP had also genuine problems. Adding that the committee reviewed the overall performance of NBP, its functioning, overstaffing, losses and profits.
Qaiser said that the committee also discussed a big scam which occurred in Bangladesh about 10 to 12 years ago that had also been sent to National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for looking into the matter, he added.
