ISLAMABAD: Deputy Governor State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Saeed Ahmad on Wednesday said the Agriculture sector to play important role to provide quality life to the rural agrarian population and "We are committed to facilitate them in all areas."
"Innovative way of farming is need of the hour and small farmers should adopt the new techniques and use modern equipments to enhance the production through also get better results, he said this while addressing the International Conference on Innovative Agriculture Financing, jointly organized by SBP and Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) here.
Deputy Governor SBP said that "We need structural changes in Sector to enhance the capacity and management building of the farmers from remote areas of the country and to educate them in this regard.
He said that quality of the seeds are more important to get better crops and through export country would earn more review by quality production.
Saeed Ahmad said that small farmers needs more awareness to adopt and implement the modern way of cultivation for more production and prosperity of farmers.
He said that Pakistan is now self- sufficient in water resources "We should exploit the water resources to get good crops and earn foreign reserve and bring prosperity in rural community of the country.
According to the United Nation (UN) report, He said that in 2025, 17 countries would be faced the water scarcity and to in crisis like situation.
"We requires the more practical initiative to shape the modern Agricultural vision through adopting the innovative and modern techniques for better future in this sector, he added.
Addressing the conference, senior fellow and group leader FAO, Mr. Calvin Miller said that financial management and marketing financial education is way forward to enhance the capacity of small farmers in rural areas.
He said that there is need to more focusses on micro finance and to build the small enterprises for the financial support of agriculturist.
