imageISLAMABAD: The Central Directorate of National Savings (CDNS) has collected Rs 90 billion during the third quarter of current fiscal year against Rs 36 billion during the same period of previous year.

The CDNS collected Rs 21 billion in April 2014 against Rs 11 billion in April 2013, said CDNS Director General Saeed Ahmad Rana while talking to APP on Monday.

He said the government had taken about 27% of its non-inflationary loans from the CDNS to meet its development and budget expenditures.

Replying to a question regarding the 10% discount rate from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), he said, "We are following the Pakistan Investment Board (PIB) guidelines to manage the rates accordingly."

He said the national savings schemes aimed at generating revenues and provide benefit to the common people.

"We started the Welfare Saving Certificate Scheme (WSCS) to facilitate the widows, orphans and pensioners," he added.

The regular income certificates of Rs 100 to Rs 40,000 denominations were issued to benefit low income masses, he said.

Replying to another question, he said the CDNS had future plans to modernize its offices and train the employees and build their capacity.

He said that his organization was negotiating an integrated plan with different banks for setting up automated teller machines.

"We have decided to computerize 80 branches out of 140 across the country to facilitate the customers," he added.

Replying to another question, he said a customer complaint center was established to facilitate the customers and provide them services in short time.
