imageFAISALABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on National Affairs, Irfan Siddiqui on Tuesday said that PML-N government had successfully put the country in the right direction by taking far-reaching steps to boost national economy, eradicate terrorism, overcome load shedding and make the country stronger in just two and half years.

Talking at a get-together with media persons at a local hotel, Irfan Siddiqui said that there was dire need to support the national agenda of development aimed for changing the socio-economic life of the masses, eradication of poverty and to provide basic amenities to the people without discrimination.

" When Nawaz Sharif government took over the affairs of the country, it was in very bad shape.

The country was at the brink of default. Terrorism was at the top. Lawlessness was rampant. Industrial wheels were jammed for want of power but it is nothing a miracle to overcome all such chronic issues with transparency, better strategy and political-will to resolve the trouble-oriented issues," he said

He said that immediately after 2013 election, a strategy was evolved how to steer out the country from the sea of problems and with the blessing of Almighty Allah, the government is heading towards betterment as per its set agenda meant for converting Pakistan into an Asia Economic Tiger.

He said that all the institutions, stakeholders and establishment are on one page and the only priority for which they are working with sincerity and zeal is to make Pakistan progressive and prosperous.

Irfan Siddiqui said that result of Local Bodies (LB) elections in Cantonment areas followed by first and second phase of LB elections 2015 in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtoon Khawa, Sindh and Baluchistan provinces and 32 bye-elections of National and Provincial Assemblies have confirmed that 2013 Elections' results were by and large at the same pattern.

He said that credit goes to the government for restoring peace in Karachi and bring back its lights by eliminating incidents of kidnapping for ransom, terrorism, lawlessness, and the new development has also restored the confidence of investors who are now making huge investment in Pakistan.

He said that the stock exchanges which are considered barometer of financial health of any country are also indicating that Pakistan is on the path of economic progress.

'There is need to do away the menace of negativity and we should also support the government for its welfare-oriented projects,' he added.

He said that the tilt of the Chinese investors and their government for making huge investment in Pakistan is also an indicator that they believe that it is high time to invest in Pakistan and at the same time, it will also generate huge activities for the people of Pakistan.

Irfan Siddiqui said that first time the government with consensus has evolved code of ethics for electronic media and it will promote the responsible journalism in the country and media will more flourish and gain confidence of the viewers.
