imageKARACHI: Various departments of Sindh government are working round the clock to replace 61 Federal Laws with provincial laws by bringing certain functions of the federal ministries devolved under 18th Constitutional Amendment under the domain of provincial government of Sindh.

This was stated in a meeting held with Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah in the chair here at CM House, said a statement on Monday.

The meeting was attended by Senator Saleem Mandviwala, Senior Minister for Finance & Energy Syed Murad Ali Shah, Chief Secretary Siddique Memon, Principal Secretary to CM Alamuddin Bullo, CM Advisor on Zakat & Ushr Dost Mohammd Rahimoo, Secretary Inter-provincial Coordination Department, Secretary Labour Rasheed Solangi and others.

Chief Minister Advisor on Zakat, Dost Mohammad briefing the meeting said that his department had already done necessary legislation.

"Now the Board of Trustees is to be formed to implement the Zakat Bill," he said and added that he had already held a meeting with Sindh Revenue Board which have been assigned the task of Zakat Collection.

He said that Zakat collection in the month of Ramzan would be around Rs 3 billion.

"We would increase it more than Rs 3 billion and utilise the amount for the needy people," he said.

The Chief Secretary told the Chief Minister that EOBI legislation has been done and is being implemented.

"Presently, working on structure of EOBI is to be set up for which Labour department was making proposals," he said.

Secretary Labour Rasheed Solangi told the meeting that Workers Welfare Fund (WWF) legislation works has been completed.

The department would issue the notification for the board of WWF within a week. This recovery of the WWF fund may go upto Rs 3 billion, he said.

The federal laws to be replaced with provincial laws on which Sindh government is working.

The CM Sindh directed the CS Sindh and Law department to expedite legislation work so that responsibilities and function of devolved departments could be taken over.
