ISLAMABAD: National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has blocked 4920 Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs) issued to aliens, the Senate was informed Tuesday.
In a written reply to the question of Rozi Khan Kakar, the Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said the CNICs were issued from various centres in Balochistan provinces.
Giving details, he said 1,522 blocked applicants were having more than one CNIC, 117 were confirmed aliens and 3,281 were suspected elements.
The individuals suspected or identified as aliens are issued Legal Notice under relevant section of Nadra Ordinance 2000 to appear before the Nadra verification board. If the board is satisfied, CNIC will be unblocked.
In case of any doubt, says the reply, the cases are referred to Joint Verification Committees for verification of National Status and further action is taken in the light of reports.
