ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Wednesday expressed satisfaction over police report regarding murder of Korangi Pilot Project Director, Parveen Rehman and directed the police to arrest killers soon.
The three-member bench of the court headed by Chief Justice Nasir-Ul-Mulk resumed hearing of the case.
During course of proceedings, Inquiry Officer appeared before the bench and submitted report.
He said that land mafia killed Parveen Rehman because she was working for the welfare of poor people in the Orangi area and was a big hurdle for land grabbers.
He said that police had arrested one accused but the main killer Raheem Swati was at large and police teams were tracing him to arrest.
The court directed the police to arrest main killer and adjourned hearing of the case till May, 18.
Meanwhile, the same bench also adjourned hearing of the case regarding arrears of Karachi Electric Supply Company till May, 6 and directed the Sindh High Court to dispose of constitutional petition of KESC within the current month.
The court also directed the SHC if necessary then hearing of the case should be conducted on daily basis for early disposal of the case.
