imageKARACHI: Fifty six thousand employees of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and those associated with 6 different district municipal corporations (DMCs) of the metropolis have opened their accounts in Sindh Bank to draw their salary from July and onwards.

Sindh government in its decision to purge civic bodies of the menace of ghost employees, following a identification exercise, had asked all the concerned officers and staffers to open afresh their accounts at Sindh Bank a few months ago, said a press release.

Provincial government has decided in principle that salary for June would not be paid to many of those employees who did not open their accounts in Sindh Bank.

Concerned authorities working against the ghost employees claimed that a far more number of unscrupulous elements were drawing salaries without any service delivery for years and had thus severely compromised delivery capacities of KMC and DMCs in Karachi besides causing heavy financial loss to the exchequer.

It has also been decided that a sizable number employees, pertaining to BPS 1 to 19, who are yet to comply with the government directives and are found failing to appear for their job would be terminated, if do not report to the office and gave their joining in next few days' time.
