imageQUETTA: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Balochistan on Wednesday handed over cheques of recovered amount to the affectees of the "Arsalan Town Housing Scheme" (phase IV-V).

Accused, Nasir Haider, had launched fake housing society "Arsalan Town Housing Scheme" (phase IV-V) in Kach Mor area of Quetta and looted hard-earned money of people by promising plots.

He disappeared from the scene after receiving all installments of the plots.

Director General NAB Balochistan, Major (R) Tariq Mehmood Malik distributed cheques among the affectees after recovering the amount from, Nasir Haider, owner of the Arsalan Town Housing Scheme phase 4-5 during a ceremony held in NAB Balochistan here.

Complainants namely Mushtaq Ahmed Qureshi, Saleemullah Qureshi, Rafiq Ahmed, Mohammad Haneef Siddique and Anees Ali Siddique lodged complain in NAB Balochistan to probe into the counterfeit Arsaln housing Scheme.

During probe into the case, NAB investigation team learnt that Nasir Haider without obtaining NOC from Cantonment and Quetta Development Authority (QDA) launched fake housing scheme in Kach Mor.

People deposited their hard-earned with the owner of the housing scheme who later did not develop the said scheme and was also reluctant to give back the received amount to the affectees by using delaying tactics.

NAB after completing the investigation, recovered looted amount from Mr Nasir and handed over to the affectees.

Talking on the occasion, Director General NAB Balochistan Major (R) Tariq Mehmood Malik underlined the need for making the existing Regulatory Mechanism more effectively in order to avoid public being cheated by the corrupt elements through fake housing schemes.

"NAB would coordinate with the authorities of QDA and other concerned for making the Regulatory mechanism more effective," DG said adding that NAB would also ensure that laws pertaining to the regulation of housing schemes are being exercised in prudent manner.

He said that construction of Housing societies equipped with all basic needs are imperative, however, it requires the attention of the concerned to diminish the chances for cheating public at large.

Director General NAB stressed the need for collective efforts against the evil of corruption and noted that support of people from all segment of the society was essential to make it a success.
