imageKARACHI: Sindh Government will launch the fourth phase of Reverse Osmosis (R.O) Plants installation under Drinking Water Hub (DWH) project in the desert areas of Thar, Badin and Mirpurkhas districts in addition to providing 18 R.O plants in District West and 10 in each remaining district of Karachi.

This was decided at a meeting chaired by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah here Friday, to review the implementation on DWH project.

The Chief Minister directed the authorities concerned to conduct a survey and prepare PC-I for phase-4 of the DWH project within one month.

He also directed the concerned executing agency to complete the installation of remaining 450 R.O. plants in District Tharparkar by the end of September 2015, where out of 750 scheduled R.O plants 300 have already been installed and made functional under DWH project.

Sindh Chief Minister said that his government on the directives of party leadership is giving priority to resolve the water issue of Karachi and directed the officers also to conduct survey, identify the locations, prepare PC-I for installation of 18 R.O plants in District South, specially at Shireen Jinnah Colony, Sikandar Abad and 10 others in each remaining district of Karachi in a way that the project could be implemented expeditiously during the current financial year.

The Chief Minister Sindh also endorsed the Karachi Water Board scheme for rehabilitation of Dhabeji Pumping Station at a cost of Rs 1.5 billion to increase its capacity up to 100 MGD.

He directed the Local Government Department to re-submit the summary which earlier was deferred due to litigation and assured that the same would be approved Immediately.

Expressing his satisfaction over the working of R.O plant at Mithi with delivery of two million gallon water per day, the Chief Minister directed the authority concerned to construct a water tank with two million gallons capacity at Mithi within shortest possible time, so that people of Mithi and other areas could be benefitted.
