imageISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Education, Training and Standards in Higher Education, Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rehman on Monday said the government would take every possible measure to protect the lives and property of the citizens.

Talking to media after declaration of result of Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) Part-II by Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) in a ceremony held here, the minister said nobody would be allowed to take law in his hand and cause agitation.

Terming the Imran Khan' Azadi March as illogical, the minister said Imran Khan cannot win majority even after recounting of votes in his demanded constituencies.

"Imran Khan says that he believes in democracy but he is not ready to accept the decisions of a democratic government," he said.

About Tahir-ul-Qadri' speech, he said it clearly reflects that he wanted violence during the march which would disrupt peace.

The government has proved through his actions that it is standing on solid footings, he said.

Addressing during the ceremony, Baligh-ur-Rehman termed the youth as precious asset of the country and said the government is taking steps to utilize their capabilities in constructive way.

He said the government is accelerating its efforts to implement National Plan of Action (NPA) for achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) of education.

The minister said efforts are also underway to bring improvements in FBISE examination system, making it more objective to discourage the trend of route learning among students.

He congratulated the students for achieving good results and appreciated the efforts of their teachers toward their training and education.

According to the result, a total number of 41967 regular candidates appeared in the examination out of which 31930 passed with the pass percentage of 76.08. While, a total of 11539 private candidates appeared out of which 5870 passed with the pass percentage of 50.87.

Maintaining the previous record, the girls bagged more top position in the exam as compared to the boys.

In Pre-medical group, Maria Amin and Muhammad Musab Hussain from Hamza Army Public School and College, Rawalpindi secured first and second positions with 1034 and 1028 marks respectively.

While, the third position was shared by Aemen Shafqat Ahmad Bazaz from Fauji Foundation College for Girls, Rawalpindi and Maham Fazal from Army Public School and College for Girls, Rawalpindi with 1026 marks.

In Humanities group, Aziz-ul-Haq from Institute of Islamic Sciences, Islamabad secured first position with 940 marks and Areeba Zakir from Fauji Foundation College for Girls, Rawalpindi Cantt stood second with 930 marks.

Salma Bibi from PAEC Model College for Girls, Mianwali obtained third position with 928 marks.

In the Pre-Engineering group, Maryam Asad of Hamza Army Public School and College, Rawalpindi clinched first position with 1018 marks and Soban Ahmed of Islamabad Model College for Boys stood second with 1016 marks.

The third position was shared by Talha Rehman of Punjab College, Islamabad and Aminah Siddiqui of Army Public School and College for Girls, Rawalpindi with 1015 marks.

In Science General group, Sana Arshad of Punjab College, Islamabad secured first position with 1008 marks, Saiqa Hafeez of F.G Degree College for Women, Rawalpindi stood second with 993 marks while Hassan Mahmood of F.G Degree College for Men, Wah Cantt obtained third position with 991 marks.

In Commerce group, Saba Fatima of PACE College for Girls with 951

marks,Mahnoor Latif of Punjab College, Islamabad stood second with 920 marks while the third position was clinched by Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din of Indus College of Commerce with 916 marks.

Managing Director Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal, Barrister Abid Waheed Sheikh and officials of FBISE were present in the ceremony.
