LAHORE: The Punjab Agriculture department has advised to cotton growers to monitor weather predictions before watering the fields here on Tuesday.
According to spokesman, farmers should adopt proper strategy to drain rain water from fields where it accumulated, and if drainage was not possible than they must collect it in a digged land. Nitrogen fertilizer should be used after analyzing the fertility of the land and crop condition, he added.
He also stressed upon the farmers to pay special attention of remove weeds which rapidly grow after rain.
He said that if the increasing attack of Mealy Bug was witnessed so farmers must follow the instructions of agriculture department to control it.
Incase of leaf curl virus attack on cotton crops, farmers must not get disappointed, rather they must pay special attention to crop and properly use fertilizers and water the crop so that negative impact of the virus could be minimized.
