LAHORE: Capital City Police Officer Muhammad Aslam Tareen has said ulema will have to play an effective role to purge anti-social elements from society.
He was talking to a 20-member Shia Ulema delegation of Majlis Wahdatul Muslimeen which called on him at CCPO office here on Wednesday led by its chairman Alhaj Haidar Ali Mirza.
He said a system of citizens feedback would be strengthened by propagating the community policing to create better liaison between police and people.
The CCPO said notables of the area and police officers had been included in peace committees which had decided proper scanning and screening of devotees visiting shrines.
Talking to Ulema, Muhammad Aslam Tareen called upon them to play their effective role in forging religious tolerance and unity among their followers.
During the meeting, various proposals of religious tolerance were discussed in the light of law and order in the city.
The delegation assured the CCPO of their wholehearted cooperation in the elimination of terrorism and other heinous crimes from the city.
