RATODERO: The Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP), Larkana Range, Irfan Ali Baloch, has written a letter to the Secretary, Health Department, Government of Sindh, to depute some four senior doctors to assist the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) on 30th April to ascertain the facts about spread of HIV/AIDS in Ratodero.

The letter further stated that the case is related to the diagnosis of HIV/AIDS in various patients and involvement of a specific clinic as source of spreading the viral disease because the matter is purely related to the technical nature of health department.

Copy of this letter has also been sent to Inspector General of Police Sindh.

The DIGP had constituted a JIT to probe the allegations of affected people who had said that Dr Muzafar Ghangro was involved in using same syringe among various patients due to which they and their children had been infected with the viral disease.

Dr. Ghangro was arrested and FIR was registered against him under section 324.

The JIT is headed by SSP Kambar-Shahdadkot Kamran Nawaz Panjotha and include SSP Larkana Masood Bangash along two other members.

Meanwhile, a delegation of Pakistan Medical Association, Larkana Chapter, led by its president Dr Mahboob Shah, called on DIGP and requested him for thorough probe into the issue of arrest of Dr. Ghangro.

They were assured of clean investigation into the matter by JIT.

On the other hand, nine more new HIV positive cases were detected at the Blood Screening Camp out of 112 people were screened on Thursday bringing the total HIV positive cases to 94 in Ratodero town of Larkana district most of them are children.
