SHC seeks inquiry report against IO in alleged bribe case

KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday sought inquiry report from Director General (DG) National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in a case pertaining to an Investigation Officer (IO) of NAB for allegedly demanding bribe from a citizen.
A two-member bench of the SHC heard the petition filed by citizen, Imran Ali, against NAB IO Sajid Naeem for demanding alleged bribe of Rs1 million.
DG NAB Sindh Farooq Naseer Awan informed the court that IO Sajid Nadeem has already been suspended. The bench sought inquiry report from the DG NAB against the IO.
Petitioner Imran’s counsel said that IO Sajid Nadeem had summoned his client at house of a builder, who was a friend of the IO, where an estate agent was also present. The petitioner was asked to pay a bribe of Rs1 million.
The petitioner had presented before the court an audio recording of his meeting with the IO.
The court, later, adjourned the hearing till 11th June.
