SHC issues notices to federal, Sindh govt in plea seeking formation of provincial EOBI

KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday issued notices to federal and Sindh governments on a petition seeking formation of a Provincial Employees Old-age Benefits Institution (EOBI).

The SHC bench heard a petition seeking formation of provincial EOBI and issued notices to federal and Sindh governments for 9th May.

The petitioner stated that federal EOBI was abolished after the 18th Amendment. His counsel Barrister Asad Ishfaq informed the court that provincial governments had to establish EOBI in 2014.’’Millions of pensioners of private institutions are facing difficulties owing to non-establishing EOBI at provincial level,’’ he said.

He pleaded the court to order the Sindh government for the formation of provincial EOBI, immediately.

The court, later, adjourned the hearing till 9th May.
