Secretary Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Punjab Najam Ahmed Shah has directed heads of all the teaching hospitals and specialized healthcare institutions to prepare monthly duty rooster of all the professors and the consultants for OPD and this duty roster should also be shared with the department and implemented in letter and in spirit.
He categorically said that the vice chancellors of medical universities, principals of the medical colleges and medical superintendents of the teaching hospitals should directly responsible for implementation of the duty rooster of which they are being authorized to use their powers.
He stated this while presiding over a high-level video link meeting of Vice Chancellors of the medical universities, principals of the medical colleges and medical superintendents/executive directors of the teaching hospitals and specialized healthcare institutions to review the performance of the hospitals and utilization of medicines budget by these institutions.
The meeting was organized by the Special Management and Internal Policy Unit SM&IPU of the Department, here on Saturday. The meeting reviewed and evaluated the outdoor facilities for the patients, procurement and utilization of medicines budget, laboratory facilities and other patient welfare related affairs came under discussion during the long hour meeting. Special Secretary Health Sajid Mahmood Chuhan, Additional Secretary Admin Raja Mansoor and Executive director SM&IPU Pro Ahsan Waheed Rathor also present in the meeting.
Najam Ahmed Shah said that the department has tried to free the teaching hospitals' administration from manual work of clerical staff and introduced software by using the information technology in every sector to improve the efficiency of the hospitals.
