Former defence secretary Tariq Waseem Ghazi said on Thursday that US President Donald Trump is replacing the policies of his predecessor Barak Obama to establish supremacy of white Americans. In a speech at the Pakistan Institute of International Affairs, he said Trump is following an agenda of white American supremacy.
He said the resurgence of Russia and China's economic growth will change the geopolitical landscape of the world. He said that America, which has decided to stay on in Afghanistan, wants continued instability there, following the doctrine of "controlled chaos."
Former foreign secretary Najamuddin Shaikh said in his speech that Pakistan should support global financial assistance to its war-torn neighbour until 2030.
There are still no chances that Afghanistan will have a government of reconciliation since the Taliban are divided into factions.
Afghanistan cannot survive on its existing resources, he said, because the Afghan government runs the country on foreign financial aid, which is 63 percent of its entire budget. Likewise, the Afghan national defence force is funded only by coalition forces. The coalition forces are funded 90 percent by the US alone, he added.
Citing an Afghan government official, he said that the country will collapse if international funding ceased.
Cultivation of opium has grown while the warlords are drawing money for the drugs smuggling, he said, adding that the 40 percent of Afghans are jobless. Trade between South Asian and Central Asian nations are likely to boost Afghanistan economy through land routes. Mineral deposits worth $1 trillion dollars are beneath Afghan soil and they need to be exploited after exploration, he said.
