The Karachi Port handled 144,521 tonnes of cargo comprising 118,542 tonnes of import cargo and 25,979 tonnes of export cargo including 7,470 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 118,542 tonnes comprised of 53,978 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,365 tonnes of general cargo; 31,654 tonnes of bulk cargo: 21,500 tonnes of coal; 5,254 tonnes of DAP; 4,900 tonnes of rock phosphate and 31,545 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 25,979 tonnes comprised of 22,803 tonnes of containerised cargo; 576 tonnes of loose bulk cement and 2,600 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 7,470 containers comprising of 3,645 containers import and 3,825 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 847 of 20's and 1,343 of 40's loaded while 02 of 20's and 55 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 472 of 20's and 397 of 40's loaded containers while 315 of 20's and 1,122 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were eight ships namely Kota Lagu, Hyundai Faith, Los Angeles Trader, MT Lahore, Spottail, Selene Leader, Ocean Pearl and Mandarin Ocean carrying containers, mogas, oil tanker, coal, vehicle and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were six vessels viz. YM Cypress, Ningbo Express, Clemens Schulte, UACC Riyadh, Bahra and Manuela Buttiglieri carrying containers and oil tankers respectively currently at the berths. There were three ships namely Ningbo Express, Bahra and Aquila carrying containers, oil tanker and coal respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday.
There were four vessels viz. Kota Layar, MOL Emerald, Pacific Talent and Bhagavathy carrying containers, coal and bitumen respectively due to arrive on Wednesday, while five vessels viz. MSC Tasmania, MT Quetta, Dream Jasmine, Liberty Peace and Navios Soleil carrying containers, oil tanker, vehicle and coal respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.
A cargo volume of 176,711 tonnes comprising 158,110 tonnes of import cargo and 18,601 tonnes of export cargo including 4,080 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 158,110 tonnes includes 10,950 tonnes of palm oil; 1,391 tonnes of LPG; 71,890 tonnes of coal; 1,228 tonnes of project cargo; 7,010 tonnes of chemical; 6,722 tonnes of soyabean and 58,919 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 18,601 tonnes includes 18,601 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 4,080 containers comprising of 3,101 containers import and 979 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
There were three ships namely CV Maersk Kinloss, MV Hyde Park and MT Snoe Ploeg carrying containers, chemical and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday. A total number of ten vessels viz. CV MSC Tomoko, CV Maersk Kinloss, MV Berlin Trader, MV Pacific Action, MV Isabe Oldendroff, MV Greco Libero, MV Agios Nicolas, MV Hyde Park, MT White Purl and MT Snow Ploeg were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, chemical, coal, soyabean, LPG and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as nine ships namely MV Morningstar, MV Bulk Electra, MV Imme Oldendroff, MV YM Miranda, MT Maria-III, MT Gas Husky, MT Arwan Spirit, MT Epic Sardinia and MT Rising Sun carrying rice, soyabean, coal, chemical, LNG, LPG and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. There were five vessels viz. MV Morningstar, MV Clipper Helen, MV Imme Oldendroff, MT Arwan Spirit and MT NCC Malta carrying rice, coal, chemical, LPG and palm oil expected to take berths at Grain & Fertilizer Terminal, Iron Ore & Coal Berth, Engro Vopak Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal and Liquid Oil Terminal respectively on Wednesday.
There were eight ships namely CV San Felix, CV Hugo Schulte, MV Clipper Helen, MV Forest Park, MV Great-61, MV Tamar, MT Arwa Spirit and MT Pacific A Dorodchi carrying containers, chemical, steel, LNG and furnace oil respectively due to arrive on Wednesday. There is one ship namely CV CMA CGM Narval carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday.
