Book launching ceremony: Sartaj for highlighting positive identity of Islam
Advisor to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz on Saturday emphasized the need for highlighting the positive identity of Islam to take back the religion to its true roots. Speaking at a book launching ceremony, authored by Barrister Zafarullah Khan, at Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA), Aziz said that Islam is a religion of peace and has noting to do with terrorism and violence.
He regretted that negative perception of Islam is being spread in the West and there is a dire need for the efforts to take back Islam to its true roots and meanings. He said that Islam is the religion of peace but a wrong perception is being portrayed in the western world, which needs to be changed. He pointed out that Muslims around the world are concerned about their future, adding, "We have to highlight the positive identity of Islam and Muslims in the world."
Referring to the book, Aziz said that the author has highlighted the plight of the Muslims around the world. "Islam teaches us the lesson of humanity, peace and tranquility, if we admit our weaknesses, we might be able to find solution to our problems," he added.
Barrister Zafarullah Khan is a renowned lawyer and also special assistant to the Prime Minister. In his book 'Islam in the Contemporary World - A new narrative,' he has highlighted the positive message of Islam in the contemporary world.
