Message from Chairperson Sindh Board of Investment/Sindh Enterprise Development Fund
Our province, Sindh, has time and again proven to be an attractive investment destination for both international and local investors. Karachi is undisputedly the nucleus of financial activity for the entire country. With the presence of major financial institutions and business houses and a large industrial, Agriculture and aquaculture base, Sindh provides stellar advantages to investors.
Sindh Board of Investment (SBI) was envisaged and established to capitalise on these advantages. SBI is charged with creating a business-friendly environment through the institution of efficient governance mechanisms and catalysing Public-Private relationships geared to enhance investor confidence.
Sindh Enterprise Development Fund (SEDF) aims to foster economic growth, create job opportunities and alleviate poverty in the Agribusiness sector by providing technical assistance and financial support to stakeholders in the rural as well as urban areas of Pakistan to improve Agricultural practices, increase productivity, improve product quality and value addition.
For each of the five years, the SBI and SEDF have held the Livestock, Dairy, Fisheries, Poultry and Agriculture Exhibition and Seminar in Karachi to better connect business and farming. This is the first year we have taken this to areas that are actively and intensively engaged with the agricultural and livestock based economy and its improvement through research and development. We hope it will give business due opportunity to appreciate how much untapped potential lies here and provide better exposure to the unique and distinctive work of the Sindh Agriculture University in Tando Jam, Sindh.
I would like to thank all those involved in setting up this exhibition, with special consideration to the Chief Minister and ministers for agriculture and livestock for continuing to help set up a business-friendly environment in all corners of the province. I would like to express my appreciation to the Sindh Agricultural University in Tando Jam for accommodating us and providing an exciting insight into their work. The team at SBI/ SEDF has worked tirelessly to make this a reality, not least our CEO Mehboob Ul Haq.
I have confidence that this event will cement the ties between academia, business and agriculture to advance the best interests of our province. It is only through research, constant development and the interest of business that the rural economy will maintain its competitive edge in Sindh.
