Message from Minister for Livestock and Fisheries, Government of Sindh
It gives me immense pleasure to appreciate the efforts taken by the Sindh Board of Investment in providing investment facilitation to emerging entrepreneurs and on organising the 6th annual Livestock, Dairy, Fisheries, Poultry & Agriculture Exhibition & Seminar, Horse, Cattle and Flower Show (LDFA) at Sindh Agriculture University, Tando Jam. The event has now become a signature and hallmark event for the Government of Sindh. Sindh Enterprise Development Fund has selected an ideal place for organising the event as the Agriculture University in Tando Jam is widely seen as a pioneering institution in providing knowledge in the sectors of agriculture and livestock.
Sindh Enterprise Development Fund has successfully followed its vision of supporting entrepreneurship based on Sindh's competitive advantage. Organising such events to provide opportunities to the government to highlight its performance and achievements is testimony to this. Besides this, such an event also helps in disseminating knowledge about key sectors Like livestock and agriculture to international observers and stakeholders.
The Livestock and Fisheries Department, Government of Sindh deals with three major production subsectors; Livestock, Poultry and Fisheries. The main functions of the Department are to provide technical services including vaccination, treatment, and artificial insemination, disease diagnosis to the Livestock farmers and to promote Livestock farming in the province as a major source of income and tool for poverty alleviation. Besides this, in Fisheries sector this Department has taken initiatives of establishing fish and shrimp hatcheries, surveillance of coastal areas to improve productivity & enhance availability of fish and training institutes for fishermen.
The event will provide an opportunity for this Department to highlight the performance and achievement and create future investment avenues which in the long run will help in mitigating the poverty.
