Canada's central bank maintained its key lending rate at 0.5 percent on Wednesday, citing uncertainty over the impact of incoming US President Donald Trump's policies on the global economy.
"Uncertainty about the global outlook is undiminished, particularly with respect to policies in the United States," the Bank of Canada said in a statement, two days before Trump's inauguration.
The bank only took into account proposed US tax cuts in its calculations - and none of the protectionist rhetoric coming out of Washington - resulting in an upward revision of its US growth outlook.
