The European Union has awarded all of the 450,000 tonnes of Ukrainian maize imports available in 2017 under a tariff-free quota after offers exceeded the total volume in a first bidding round, the EU's official journal showed on Thursday.
Each bidder will receive 8.3 percent of the amount requested, according to the journal.
The maize quota, along with similar quotas for wheat and barley, were established in 2014 as part of a trade agreement between the EU and Ukraine.
Ukraine is one of world's largest maize (corn) exporters while the EU is a major importer of the cereal to meet demand for livestock feed.
The volume of Ukrainian maize available in the quota this year had increased to 450,000 tonnes from 400,000 tonnes previously.
The EU is also discussing proposals to expand the tariff-free quotas for Ukrainian cereals that would bring the total volume to over 1 million tonnes annually for both maize and wheat.
