The Karachi Port handled 366,232 tonnes of cargo comprising 290,541 tonnes of import cargo and 75,691 tonnes of export cargo including 7,511 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 290,541 tonnes comprised of 112,336 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,398 tonnes of general cargo; 30,132 tonnes of coal and 145,675 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 75,691 tonnes comprised of 75,521 tonnes of containerised cargo and 170 tonnes of general cargo. As many as 7,511 containers comprising of 3,569 containers import and 3,942 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 1,239 of 20's and 1,068 of 40's loaded while 20 of 20's and 87 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,049 of 20's and 359 of 40's loaded containers while 225 of 20's and 975 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were fourteen ships namely MOL Experience, Al Abdali, Wan Hai-501, Kota Lembah, Prosper, MSC Capri, Fidelity, Najdiah, Morning Glory, MT Quetta, Asavari, Glovis Star, Apiradee Naree and Ji Xiang Song carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical, vehicle and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were eight vessels viz. YM Excellence, MSC Capri, Prosper, Morning Glory, Asavari, Ocean Glory, Glovis Star and Da Yu Xia carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical, coal, vehicle and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There was one ship namely Ever Diamond carrying containers sailed out to sea on Monday, while another ship namely Al Mahboobah carrying chemical is expected to sail on Tuesday. There were two vessels viz. HS Wanger and Inaba carrying containers and steel respectively due to arrive on Monday while four vessels viz. UAFL Zanzibar, Bremen Trader, Bunga Lucerne and Danceflora SW carrying containers, chemical and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.
The total import cargo of 66,806 tonnes includes 32,593 tonnes of furnace oil; 1,375 tonnes of LPG; 4,000 tonnes of palm oil; 3,852 tonnes of canola seeds; 1,797 tonnes of steel coil; 3,499 tonnes of chemical and 22,800 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 36,502 tonnes includes 36,502 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,109 containers comprising of 1,200 containers import and 1,909 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday. There were five ships namely CV HS Wanger, CV MSC Florida, CV Nicoline Maersk, MV Kaimon Galaxy and MT Bunga Alium carrying containers, canola seeds and palm oil respectively expected to sail on Monday morning, while another ship namely MV Glory Navigator carrying chemical is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eight vessels viz. CV HS Wanger, CV MSC Florida, CV Nicoline Maersk, MV Glory Navigator, MV Kaimon Galaxy, MV Black Pearl, MT Distya Ameya and MT Bunga Allium currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, canola seeds, chemical, LPG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as eleven ships namely CV MSC Beijing, CV MSC Rita, MV Han Hui, MV Bremen Trader, MV Igic Anka, MV Saadong Halyao, MT Liberty-N, MT General Tribute, MT Serenceti, MT Pacific Energy and MT Grand Ace-I carrying containers, project cargo, chemical, soyabean seeds, LPG, furnace oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Monday. There were six vessels viz. CV MSC Beijing, CV MSC Rita, CV Al Kharj, MV Bremen Trader, MV Saadong Halyao and MT Grand Ace-I carrying containers, chemical, soyabean seeds and palm oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, FAP Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Monday.
There were five ships namely CV Al Kharj, CV Uni Florida, CV CMA CGM Maupassant, CV CSAV Toconao and MV Fu Ming carrying containers and coal due to arrive on Monday while two ships namely CV CMA CGM Uruguay and CV Maersk Denver carrying containers are due to arrive on Tuesday.
