Under the Khadim-e-Punjab Rural Roads Programme, an amount of Rs965.00 million is being spent on the carpet construction and widening of 135 km long 8 rural roads in different areas of the district in the first phase.
A ceremony was held at Awagat-Khurrianwala Road, some 25 km away from the Faisalabad City, for launching of the Khadim-e-Punjab Rural Roads Programme. Federal Parliamentary Secretary Talal Badar Chaudhry and DCO Noorul Amin Mengal inaugurated the construction of a 10km long rural road from Awagat to Khurrianwala which would be completed at a cost of Rs87 million.
Ex-MNA Rai Salahudin Kharal, Shahid Iqbal Awan, Aftab Akbar Ch, local PML-N leaders of the area and a large number of farmers were also present.
Federal Parliamentary Secretary Talal Badar Chaudhry said that the carpet construction, widening and rehabilitation of rural roads program was a revolutionary step of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif for which huge amount of Rs15 billion have been allocated for undertaking more than 2000 km long rural roads across the province in the first phase.
He said that under the program, the selected rural roads would be carpeted with road marking and erection of road signings.
He said transparent and durable construction of roads would be ensured for which reputed consultants would look after the entire process of construction.
Talal Chaudhry Said the rural population would get benefits for smooth travelling and to bring there agri produces from farm to market in an easy way besides availing government facilities in health and education sectors. He appreciated measures taken by DCO Noorul Amin Mengal for the equitable development of rural and urban areas.
