Pak-Turkish academic, agricultural ties to be further strengthened; Turkish envoy

FAISALABAD: Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan Ihsan Mustafa Yurdakul on Tuesday said that academic and agricultural ties between the both countries would be further strengthened to get benefit from each other's experiences.

He was addressing a meeting of Deans and Directors of University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) here Tuesday.

He said that both countries were enjoying excellent relations based on brotherhood, adding that many Pakistani students were studying in Turkey.

He said, "We will widen the scope of mutual cooperation especially in the agriculture and academia. The mutual cooperation helps us learn from each other experiences."

He lauded the steps being taken on the part of the UAF for the promotion of agriculture sector and to impart quality education and research works.

UAF Vice Chancellor Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Zafar said that Pakistan and Turkey were enjoying excellent ties. He said that the enhanced collaborations would help them to make the development and prosperity.

He said that the UAF was running research projects with his country for the poverty alleviation. He added that the UAF had developed as many as 1655 PhDs so far who were working day and night.

He said that UAF was only institution in the country which was ranked among top 100 universities of the globe. He said that the university was offering courses in the 165 disciplines and had produced the manpower more than 75,000 graduates so far.

He said that the UAF was running research projects worth Rs 2.5 billion with special focus on the issues of agriculture and rural development. University had also developed relations across the globe, he added.
