BEIJING: Tianjin hiked the amount of money given to people for reporting low-grade steel production to authorities, to 500,000 yuan ($79,571) from 10,000 yuan, in a bid to prevent illegal steel production from reopening, state media Xinhua News Agency reported.
Tianjin will also increase inspections on steel markets and steel materials at construction sites, part of an effort to curb low-grade steel production.
