ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Wednesday adjourned hearing of a case till Thursday challenging the decision of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) removing Dr. Farooq Sattar as convener of MQM Pakistan.
The court directed petitioner’s counsel to conclude its arguments on April 12, the next date of hearing.
Justice Aamer Farooq of IHC heard the case filed by Dr. Farooq Sattar through his counsel Baber Sattar.
During the proceeding, the petitioner’s counsel contended that ECP was not authorized to interfere into internal affairs of any political party. He requested the court to declare the ECP decision as null and void.
The IHC bench directed the petitioner’s counsel to complete his arguments on next hearing and adjourned the case till Thursday.
During last proceeding, the court had suspended the ECP decision and served notices to the respondents including ECP, MQM-P leaders Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and Kanwar Naveed Jameel.
