New York: Wall Street stocks finished solidly higher Tuesday amid easing of US-China trade tensions, while Facebook surged as the company's chief apologized to Congress over a data breach scandal.
At the closing bell, the tech-rich Nasdaq Composite Index was up 2.1 percent at 7,093.30, as Facebook jumped 4.5 percent.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 1.8 percent to end the day at 24,405.34, while the broad-based S&P 500 advanced 1.7 percent to 2,656.77.
