With the Pakistani team prepping up for the upcoming tour of England, Pakistan’s former chief selector and all-rounder Salahuddin Sallu has highlighted the problems the Men in Green could face in England and Ireland.

The Pakistani batsmen would be facing swinging conditions out there, as they will one Test against Ireland and two Tests against England from next month.

“The batsmen will have to be cautious as the conditions there will be a concern for them,” said Salahuddin, quoted local media. The veteran was of the view that the squad should cater in two specialist openers for the upcoming series.

“Pakistan need a couple of specialist openers so the management should look at domestic performers and decide on the right personnel. All three venues will have different conditions and they will have to gear themselves up accordingly,” he said.

Speaking about Pakistan bowling that has been weakened after Pakistan’s ace leg-spinner Yasir Shah was ruled out of the series against Ireland and England after suffering a groin fracture, the former chief selector said that the bowlers would ‘need to do their homework beforehand’ in order to exploit the foreign conditions.
