Veteran actor and director Rubina Ashraf is well on the road to recovery from a severe case of Covid-19 after testing negative for the virus, according to her husband, Tariq Mirza.

The 60-year-old actor was diagnosed earlier this month and isolated herself at home before seeking treatment at a hospital in Karachi.

The star shared an update on Instagram on Monday for fans, thanking them for their prayers as she fought the virus, along with a special shout out for close friend Badar Khalil for being there for her during this difficult time.

After Ashraf had tested positive in early June, rumours quickly began circulating that she was in critical condition. However, her daughter, actor Minna Tariq, refuted the news and said her mother was recovering well.

Minna also shared a tribute to her mother on Monday to welcome her home, saying ""This woman who I am so proud to call my mother fought with all her heart to come back to me, I cannot explain in words how much you have taught me in the past 3 weeks, you truly are a force of nature and a fighter."
