Rao Anwar’s whereabouts still unknown as SC deadline expires today

With the three-day deadline of Supreme Court (SC) to arrest the former Malir Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Rao Anwar ending today, the police are still clueless about the whereabouts of the suspended officer.
On Saturday, the SC gave Inspector General (IG) of Sindh Police Allah Dino Khawaja a three-day deadline to arrest Anwar but the police have yet to arrest him. Meanwhile, the Sindh government issued a notification on Monday, officially placing the former SSP under suspension from duty.
According to the notification, former Sindh Police Investigation-II, East Zone, Muhammad Altaf Sarwar Malik has also been suspended with immediate effect. However, the notification further read, “They [suspended police officers] shall draw pay and allowances during the period of their suspension as admissible under the rules.”
Sindh IG seeks help from other provinces to arrest Rao Anwar
The IG wrote a letter to the relevant authorities on Sunday, seeking help in apprehending Anwar, who is wanted for his involvement in the 'extra judiciary murder' of Naqeebullah Mehsud.
Since Anwar's attempt to flee the country last week was foiled by the Federal Investigation Agency, he has gone into hiding. He has failed to appear before the SC, even though he was summoned.
The former SSP is wanted in the ‘extra judicial murder’ of 27-year-old Naqeebullah, a native of Waziristan. He was killed, along with three other suspected terrorists, on January 13 in an alleged encounter with a police team headed by Anwar. However, Naqeebullah’s family has claimed that the deceased was innocent and was killed in a ‘fake’ encounter.
