Coach Arthur says Shadab has become Pakistan’s go-to guy
Pakistan cricket head coach Mickey Arthur was on cloud nine after his side's impressive comeback, as they ended the series bagging the number one T20I team spot.
Arthur in particular showered praise for Shadab Khan, after the leggie picked two wickets for nineteen and more importantly choked the Kiwis run supply in the third T20I on Sunday, which earned him a Man of the Match award as well.
"He [Khan] has proved his class throughout the series. For a guy so young, to do what he does, he's become almost our go-to guy specially in the middle overs. He was outstanding," stated Arthur in a post match conference.
Arthur further pointed out that Khan has been quite good in analysing the game, which has allowed him to prosper quickly into it.
The head coach then mentioned Muhammad Amir, who took the momentum of the game in the penultimate 17th over, where he picked up Ross Taylor, who was looking dangerous on 25 for 11 deliveries.
"Mention must be made of Amir as well. When the game was on the line, he turned up for us and that is a testimony to his character. I've always said he's a big match player and he's won us games," added Arthur.
Earlier, Pakistan beat New Zealand by 18 runs in the series-deciding Twenty20 match at Mount Maunganui on Sunday. The win gave Pakistan the series 2-1, allowing them to become the top-ranked T20I side in the world.
