ISLAMABAD: An Accountability Court of Islamabad Friday testified five witnesses against former finance minister Ishaq Dar and summoned all remaining prosecution witnesses except the JIT head Wajid Zia on January 29, to record their statements.

AC Judge Muhammad Bashir picked up a reference against Ishaq Dar for hearing regarding assets beyond known sources of income filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

During he course of proceeding, NAB's prosecution witness Mohammad Naeem, an official of excise department Lahore, recorded his statement. He stated that he appeared before NAB office Lahore on August 22 and provided details of vehicles owned by Ishaq Dar and his wife.

He informed the court that three vehicles were registered in the name of former finance minister in Lahore Excise Office.

Later, private bank official Zafar Iqbal recorded his statement and presented records of Dar and his wife's bank accounts.

He said that a total amount of Rs 18,081,204 were deposited in these accounts at different times. Former NADRA official Qabos Aziz also appeared in court and recorded his statement.

He informed the court that he had provided NAB details of Dar’s family accounts when he was called to record his statement with them. He shared details with the court regarding the property owned by Ishaq Dar during 2003 to 2016. Judge Muhammad Bashir asked the NAB prosecutor to save the documents as it would be cross examined on return of accused from abroad.

NAB witness Saeed Ahmad, a deputy director of Election Commission of Pakistan also recorded the statement.

Lahore Development Authority's official Mirza Faizur Rehman appeared in court as witness and stated that in 1988 former minister had purchased a property number seven at Block H of Gulburg Lahore and this was still owned by him.

Lastly, prosecution witness Ishtiaq Ahmed, commissioner inland revenue (zone 5) Lahore, appeared in court to record his statement and presented Dar's 30-year income tax record. After recording the statements the court summoned all remaining witnesses against Ishaq Dar on next date of hearing and adjourned the proceeding.
