LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday issued notices to the federation, Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and others on an application seeking suspension of ECP notification de-notifying Nawaz Sharif.

Justice Shahid Karim issued notices on a civil miscellaneous application, filed by Lawyers Foundation for Justice, in a pending petition challenging the ECP notification.

During the hearing, the petitioner's counsel AK Dogar submitted that on July 28, the ECP de-notified Nawaz Sharif which was illegal and unlawful as the prime minister could only be removed through the parliament.

He submitted that the court had issued notices to respondents on petition filed by the applicant for setting aside the ECP notification.

He contended that the applicant had prima facie a good case and balance of convenience lay in his favour. He pleaded with the court to suspend the notification.

The court, after hearing arguments, issued notices to the respondents and adjourned further hearing.
