TORONTO: Canada's main stock index fell on Wednesday as energy and financial shares declined, while gold mining stocks were boosted by higher gold prices.
At 9:53 a.m. EST (1453 GMT), the Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index fell 17.14 points, or 0.1 percent, to 16,340.41. Six of the index's 10 main groups were lower.
