KARACHI: Police Commandos have been deputed at all sensitive union councils of Karachi during the ongoing six day polio campaign, said Inspector General of Police (IGP - Sindh) AD Khowaja here on Monday.
Sharing details of the security cover being provided to the 9000 polio teams engaged in the exercise, he said no compromise will be made with regard to their security.
"In fact police department as a stakeholder will do its optimum to facilitate the workers," said the IGP - Sindh.
In reply to a query, he said plain clothed cops have also been deputed at each of the sensitive UC alongwith commandoes and area policemen.
"Security on basis of inner and outer cordon has been further ensured at more than 30 UCs identified as sensitive in the provincial capital," said the police chief in response to another query.
"There are standing orders that cover being provided to the polio workers must be strengthened and streamlined with adequate provision for intelligence sharing and sharp vigilance," he added.
AD Khowaja said the concerned police stations are being kept on high alert and also assigned with the responsibility to ensure coordination among police personnel pertaining to different sections.
Snap checking, patrolling and picketing were claimed to be particularly strengthened during the vaccination hours.
