A PPP leader, Ahmed Mukhtar, said on Wednesday that Shujaat Hussain and his family were involved in massive corruption. He was responding to the statements by Shajaat Hussain and Pervez Elahi, appearing in the press, accusing Benazir Bhutto of plundering national wealth and taking it abroad during her two tenures as prime minister.
He said he would unveil the real volume of Shujaat's corruption in his election campaign and inform the public about his 'real' face. He said: "I have prepared a white paper on Chaudhary Shujaat and his family members' corruption, and it will be released for public and media consumption during the elections campaign."
Mukhtar is arch political rival of Shujaat. Their constituency had always been of extraordinary interest for political pundits and analysts. They are again on head-on collision and contesting from Gujrat for NA to oust each other from political scene. In the new arrangement of constituencies, Mukhtar and Shujaat will run for NA 105 Gujrat in the general elections. This constituency will be again of great interest for political pundits in particular and the people in general.
Although both politicians have begun informal campaign to get support of the voters and addressing public gatherings at different places in the constituency for weeks, they would be entering formal campaign from the next couple of days. Punjab Chief Minister Pervez is also scheduled to visit Gujrat on October 26 and address public gatherings in different areas in NA 105. Mukhtar is also going to hold public gatherings in the constituency in next couple of days.
