New rains spell to start from Monday

imageISLAMABAD: A strong weather system (westerly wave) is expected to produce more rains/snowfall over the hills in the country during the coming week.

In Punjab and federal capital Islamabad rain with snowfall over the hills is expected at a number of places from Monday to Thursday.

Intermittent heavy snowfall may occur over the hills of Murree and Galliyat from Tuesday to Thursday, an official of Met office told APP.

Whereas in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and Kashmir rain with snowfall over the hills is expected at a number of places from Monday to Thursday. Intermittent heavy snowfall may occur over the hills of GB and Kashmir from Tuesday to Thursday.

Rain with snowfall over the hills is expected at a number of places from Monday to Wednesday in Balochistan while heavy snowfall is likely over the hills of Quetta, Zhob and Kalat divisions on Tuesday and Wednesday.

While in Sindh rain with thunderstorm is expected at scattered places of the province on Tuesday and Wednesday.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa/FATA rain with snowfall over the hills is forecast at most of the places from Monday to Thursday while intermittent heavy snowfall may occur over the hills of FATA, Malakand and Hazara divisions on Wednesday and Thursday.

Met office further warned that intermittent rain may trigger landslides in the vulnerable areas of KP, GB and Kashmir. Isolated heavy falls may generate flash floods in the local streams of Balochistan.

Due to expected heavy snowfall in mountain areas, public is advised to follow National Disaster Management Authority/National Highway Authority instructions on road conditions.

All concerned authorities are advised to remain alert during the coming week.

Cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country. However, partly cloudy conditions are likely in Upper/ Central parts of the country.

In next 24 hours light rain/snowfall is expected at one or two places of Quetta division and GB. Shallow foggy conditions are likely in plain areas of Punjab and upper Sindh during morning hours.

In last 24 hours weather remained very cold and dry in most parts of the country, however rain occurred in Nokkundi, Dalbandin and Panjgur while Foggy conditions prevailed over plain areas of Punjab and upper Sindh.

Rainfall recorded during this time span was Balochistan: Dalbandin and Panjgur 01mm.
