ISLAMABAD: Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan has expressed on Tuesday that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had lied to the nation on the floor of the parliament, and so was asking for immunity in the court.
Talking to the media outside Supreme Court after the Panamagate case hearing, Khan said the Prime Minister had not yet presented money trail before the apex court. He added the PM had announced in the Parliament that Sharif family had all the records of their investment and business abroad.
But they did not present any documents or evidence about the money trail, he added, saying that the Prime Minister was now taking refuge behind immunity.
Imran Khan alleged that the government was behaving like a mafia. This is not the role of the government. They are just trying to make us shut up. I have never been in power. Why will I do corruption? he said.
He added that he was not foul-mouthed. I call a spade a spade. Is there any other word for a thief? he asked.
The PTI chief said that if the Prime Minister lied to the Parliament then what would be the worth of the Parliament.
Imran Khan went on to say that all the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders who were speaking outside court and protecting the parliament were actually being fed well. The others who have integrity cannot be seen outside the court.
In a latest development on Tuesday, Maryam Nawaz Sharif submitted her reply in the court today and reiterated that she was never dependent to father Nawaz Sharif after her marriage.
