The Guard Group was formed by our elders and started work on the golden principles advised by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah (unity, discipline & hard work). The vision of our elders was commendable and they selected the Auto Part Sector wherein they have the experience. Gradually they succeeded to establish the brand name of Guard. Today this name is well known in Pakistan enjoying the confidence of consumers.
If we have a look at todays scenario of family owned units we could easily find out certain failures in the industrial sector caused due to lavish spending and failure to plough back the profits. The Management of Guard Group on the dint of hard work and unity among the Guard Family was able to progress even in difficult times. All the directors worked with commitment and kept eye on marketing trends through frequent visits to the various auto part markets.
The quality of Guard Filters and other auto parts was maintained resulting in wide acceptance among the consumers. To get the benefit of this favorable situation, a strong distribution network of Guard products was developed throughout Pakistan. Today 40 dealers are working in various cities with extensive network of sub-dealers. Popularity of Guard Brand, Guard Group was able add new products. The present production range covers Autofilters for commercial vehicles, locomotives, construction machinery, generators, turbines and heavy vehicles. The production range also includes Guard Brake Linings, Guard Brake Oils, Guard Lube Oils, etc. To cope with the market demand for Autofilters the company is investing heavily in machinery to increase manufacturing capacity, in-house engineering facilities to develop new filters and test equipments to ensure quality.
FACILITATION - (GUARD AUTO ZONE): The basic theme of Guard Auto Zone was chiefly introduced to avoid the Middle Level Management and other spurious tiers involved in the trade. Therefore, to bridge that gap between the company and the end user and to ensure availability of genuine and original products Guard Auto Zone, (Brand winner of year 2008 & 2010) is there to provide products from factory to Guard Auto Zone and to the end user. The network of Guard Auto Zone is on increase. The association with Macro, Metro and Daewoo has added to its glory and usefulness. The people have started utilizing this novel service with confidence. These zones are also being established at highways and motorways for facilitation of change of oil and filters with assurance of quality.
MANAGEMENT: Management and Human Resource Development are extremely necessary for the survival of the Industry. Guard Group is lucky in this respect as well. Its young generation is highly qualified from universities of international fame and is working diligently to induct new ideas. They are looking after production, finances, human resource development and erection of new projects in the domain of oil. The new projects will certainly give boost to the activities of the Group.
SERVICE TO BUSINESS COMMUNITY: Iftikhar Ali Malik, Chief Executive, Guard Group, Shahzad Ali Malik, Chief Executive, Rice Project and Shahrukh Malik, Senior Executive are enjoying the confidence of the Business Community. Iftikhar Ali Malik has been the President of Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) & Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) and now is Vice President of SAARC Chamber of Commerce & Industry while Shahzad Ali Malik is the President of LCCI and Shahrukh Malik Chairman, SAARC CCI Young Entrepreneurs Forum.
CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY (CSR): Guard Group is in front of social activities and generously contributes to the education, sports and other social activities. The Group is managing two hospitals in the name of Mumtaz Bakhtawar Memorial Trust Hospitals.
I may conclude with the remarks that our success is because of coherence and unity among the family members. The young generation is completely working under the guidance of the directors and is quite enthusiastic to expand the domain of the Group as per emerging market demands to remain in the forefront as successful businessmen/industrialists. I will also give a message to the industries in the organized sector to work on establishing their brands because in the absence of these brands consumer seldom accepts the products and pay good prices as quality is not ensured.
